Dildo

Care good for you dildo!

Like all sex toys, dildos need to be cared for and stored appropriately, not only to prolong their life and use, but also to keep them clean and infection-free. Here are our top 5 tips on caring for and storing your dildos.

1. To ensure you get the best out of your dildos you need to make sure you care for them.

If you’re using lubricants with your dildo, then you need to ensure you use the right sort. Water-based lubricants, for example, are usually fine with dildos made of all sorts of material, but wouldn’t be much use if you’re using a dildo in the shower or in water.

2. Each time you use your dildo, remember to clean it afterwards.

As well a way to clean your dildo!

This is especially so if you’re sharing your sex toys, as it reduces the risk of infections being passed from one person to another. Whether or not you’re sharing them, dildos should be cleaned off each time with a damp cloth and water, with an unscented wipe (e.g baby wipes) or with any special cleaner that has come with the dildo. Make sure it’s nice and dry before putting it away.

3. It’s important to regularly check your dildo for any wear and tear as damage can occur over time (or from frequent use!).

If it’s split, cracked or damaged in any way, you should replace the item with a new model. Even if damage seems minor, when it’s being used it could accidentally cause unpleasant injuries to your body, and no-one wants that, right?

4. When it comes to storing your dildo always remember to remove any batteries first.

This will help prevent the batteries from leaking or corroding, especially if, shock, horror, you don’t use it again for a while. It will also help prevent any embarrassing incidents, like your dildo unexpectedly turning itself on whilst hidden away in your cupboard or drawer! It’s hard to make excuses for loud buzzing sounds coming from odd places….

5.It’s also worth thinking about what to actually store your dildo in.

If you’re building up a collection of several dildos or sex toys, then a special box or container is handy to keep them all in together. It’s also a good idea to keep plenty of spare batteries too, so you’re not caught out when you have a desire for some dildo action!
