There’s nothing more embarrassing then having to open up and empty your suitcase at airport security or customs – and even more so if your sex toys are pulled out. If you’re planning on packing more in your suitcase than your flip flops and bikini this summer, then here are 5 tips for travelling safely with sex toys.

1. Pack your sex toys discreetly

Be prepared for unexpected eventualities by packing your sex toys discreetly. Rather than just dumping them in your suitcase with everything else, put them in a small bag or pouch, or wrap them in a t-shirt. That way, if your case is opened, at least your sex toys will be hidden from view, unless every single item is unpacked.

2. Take the batteries out

Hands up who’s had an embarrassing moment when their bag has started vibrating or buzzing? It’s more common than you may think! To avoid this tricky situation, remember to take the batteries out of your sex toys before you pack them in your suitcase. Of course, don’t forget to pack the batteries in separately, otherwise you could end up really frustrated!

3. Leave your larger sex toys at home

However fond you are of your large dildo, it’s not necessary practical to take it on holiday with you, so leave any large sex toys at home. That certainly doesn’t mean that you can’t take any with you – far from it – just try and pick smaller favourites for your trip. Small can be equally good, after all.

4. Opt for sex toys that have a locking feature

There are some sex toys where it’s not so easy to take the batteries out, such as those that are rechargeable, but to get over the problems, they may well have a lock feature on them instead. This allows you to ‘lock’ the sex toy up, so that it won’t unexpectedly start buzzing or moving around of its own accord in your luggage.

5. Be honest if your bag does get searched

In the worst case scenario, and your bag is called up for a routine search by security, then be prepared to be honest about what your bag contains. Most security guards will have seen or heard all the excuses before and it will be obvious that your vibrator is not a massage tool, back scratcher, lipstick or rubber duck (even if some of them are designed to appear to be like such objects).
